The central Laboratory of Catlab is organized in different areas, most of which are located in a large open space 'CoreLab', with which they share and optimize the existing technology in the Laboratory.
A Core with a Cobas 8100 preanalytical equipment, which allows us the automated management of serum samples from all areas of the laboratory and different analytical modules: two Cobas 8000_c702, two selective electrode modules (ISE) and six Cobas 8000_e602, where samples are processed mostly from serum for the realization of basic Biochemistry techniques, Plasma Proteins, Vitamins, Tumor Markers, Hormones and Serology.
A Cobas 8000_c701 and two Cobas 6500 (u601 and u701). The cobas 6500 are linked by a transport chain to the preanalytical equipment p512, which allows us the automated management of urine samples for the analysis of basic Biochemistry, Drug abuse, Basic urine examination and Urine sediment.
For fecal analysis, the Oc-Sensor Pledia and Zeutec analyzers and other manual techniques are available.
Semen analysis for the study of sterility and vasectomy.
Prenatal screening of the risk of aneuploidies in the first and second trimester. Catlab performs more than 6000 annual screenings, centralizing the study of a total of five ultrasound centers. It is recognized by the Department of Health of the Generalitat, collaborating with the Laboratory Techniques Working Group for Prenatal Screening in Catalonia.
Area that channels customer inquiries addressed to Catlab and puts them in contact with the different sections. It also manages the arrival of requests from the different Information Systems. More than 95% of the requests arrive in electronic format.
Catlab has its own incident management program PIC (Catlab Incidents Program), which daily sends pre-analytical incidents via email to each of the centers and monthly a summary of the incidents by type of sample. The procedures for extractions and sample collection are updated in the catalog section.
Catlab serves 96 extraction centers. The samples all arrive in refrigerators that comply with the UN 3373 standard. All courier routes have a Temperature and Transport Time control. The automation has 1 P512 and 1 P612 that receive, distribute and prioritize.
